Horse-crazy theme on the blog lately?

Joey the horse hails from the YA novel War Horse by Michael Morpurgo.  In the fine tradition of equine point-of-view novels (who has two thumbs and read Black Beauty cover to cover again and again as a kid? This girl) and the accompanying tale of multiple owners and experiences, War Horse deals more specifically with...well, war (specifically war on the Western Front).  It's a historical novel, it's a horse novel, so for me, that's a win-win.  Plus, it's anti-war.  As Michael Scott would say, win-WIN-win.  And what better to accompany a good YA horse book than an on-stage production with a HUGE REALISTIC HORSE PUPPET.  Now there's something to make story-hour awesome...I doubt it's in most library budgets though.  Phooey.  Still, doesn't mean I can't gape and fawn over it from afar!  Be sure to watch the ears!
