The Daily Show and Rhetoric: Arguments, Issues, and Strategies

Yes, it's a book full of academic essays.  I know, what a snappy fast-paced read, right?  Well....okay, right.  In the sarcastic way, obviously.  But that doesn't mean it's not worth reading if you're into that sort of thing.  (Wow, way to go, what a stunning book review!)

Let me try this again:

*cough cough*

People who will like this book:

1.  Cool professors

2.  Academic hipsters

Behold some of the essays titles:

Models of Democratic Deliberation: Pharmacodynamic Agonism in The Daily Show -- Kelly Wilz

Purifying Laughter: Carnivalesque Self-Parody as Argument Scheme in The Daily Show with Jon Stewart -- Aaron Hess

Breaking News: A Postmodern Rhetorical Analysis of The Daily Show -- (also) Aaron Hess

Gaywatch: A Burkean Frame Analysis of The Daily Show's Treatment of Queer Topics -- C. Wesley Buerkle

Do I like it?  Yes!  Am I an academic hipster?  Also yes!  So there you go.

  1. I always thought professor Indiana Jones was way hotter than cowboy Indiana Jones. Just as an aside.

    1. Ditto. Also, I had to re-read this whole post. His photo distracted me...
