Weekend on the horizon

Ode to the viewmaster by Sammy Slabbinck

I was going to talk about the book Jesus Girls: True Tales of Growing Up Female and Evangelical (Experiences in Evangelicalism) today, but I left my Kindle at home, which means I don't have access to all the little quotey bits.  So, later on that homefront.

On the actual homefront, things are good, bad, and in-between.  One good thing is that this weekend + Monday and Tuesday are stay-cation days since Patrick and I have our two-year wedding anniversary.  (Originally we were going to drive up to Harper's Ferry to camp at this place that has treehouse cabins, but that costs money, and more important in the equation, so does gas, so we finally nixed it entirely.)  Instead, we'll be hanging out in ye olde Richmond with trips to Texas Beach, Greyhaven winery (they are big LOTR nerds over there), taking a peek at the tons of new murals on the canal walk, and so on and so forth.  Also, at some point there's an exam I have to take for school.  Nothing says vacation like exams, right?  Right-o.  As for the bad and in-between, well, at least they aren't both bad, right?  Right-o again.

  1. I love staycations. If you're going to Greyhaven you might as well go to Keswick too, as they have their own wine. You can just walk into the bar, have a drink or two, and FEEL like a rich person even though you only spent a few bucks. Plus, the scenery.

  2. Oooo, that does look rich and sassy! After seeing pictures of the hounds on that site I feel rich simply having that site in my Internet history, so I can only imagine how much richer I'd feel setting foot on the grounds...
