Hiking, dogs, reading

Me and my younger brother; as if it weren't obvious that we're related

What I've been doing lately: hiking the Appalachian Trail.  Well, for three days, anyway.

What I've been reading lately:
In the House upon the Dirt between the Lake and the Woods by Matt Bell (holy. moly. It's like Cormac McCarthy and Jeanette Winterson created a melancholy creepy lovechild)
The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson (So, basically everything you know and love was created at the Chicago World's Fair)
Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know by Alexandra Horowitz (If you can't get into the head of your dog, getting the mind of a dog-inclined scholar is good!)

I know everybody thinks their dog is the cutest, mostly because we've formed bonds with them and overlook any uglies, but isn't Neville THE CUTEST?  Let me in your brain!  Your little potato brain!

What I want to read next:
Animals in Young Adult Fiction by Walter Hogan (Because if there's one thing I like as much as YA, it's reading about YA.)
I Await the Devil's Coming by Mary MacLane (real emo diary from a 19-year-old living in Montana in 1902??!!  SIGN. ME. UP.)
Moab Is My Washpot by Stephen Fry (Because, Stephen Fry.)

This is kind of a boring catch-all life/reading post.  What are you reading, friends?  And what do your dogs look like?
